1988 Honda Spree original cost?

Wanting to know the approximate original cost of a 1988 Honda Spree. I have an opportunity to purchase this 49cc motor scooter in fair condition, 5752 miles, everything works, for $300.00 Is this to much for a 20 year old scooter. I want to pay a fair price..

New they were going for about $600/700.00. Currently on Campus scooter shop running beaters are going $100.00/150.00- Madison Wi. Rebuits with new rings, cleaned exhaust are going fro $250.00+-. salvage yards have free turning engines for $50.00. bents and stucks are $25.00 with papers for parts. Madison, Wi area.
